John argued against the iconoclasts (GO JOHN!) and was also the author of the Easter hymns “Come ye faithful, raise the strain” & “The day of resurrection” 

Pray for those who adorn churches amd who write icons, (Weird but true, "to write" is the correct verb for making icons) For those who teach the church through hymns and song. Pray also at this terrible time for the church in Syria and for all the people of Syria including the thousands of refugees who have fled their homes.
