On the Episcopal calendar today we remember The Dorchester Chaplains, US Army Chaplains Lieutenants George Fox, Alexander Goode, Clark Poling and John Washington, who died during WW II

                                    Psalm 62:14

God has spok-en once, twice have
I heard it,
that power belongs to God.

Early in 1943, The Dorchester, a troop ship, a converted cruise ship, left New York City for Greenland. At  1am on February 3, the day before it's arrival, the ship was
torpedoed by a German U Boat. Only 2 of the 14 lifeboats were successfully lowered into the sea. Having
given their life jackets to save the lives
of the soldiers, the chaplains, Methodist, Jewish, Reformed Dutch and Roman Catholic, stood on the aft deck, their arms linked in prayer, as the ship went down.                              (Holy Women, Holy Men…. )
