You go, bro! St Athanasuis! Bishop of Alexandria c 295-373

                             The Venite
                         said atMorning Prayer
       very morning throughout the world

Come,
let us sing
to the Lord,
let us shout
with joy
to the Rock
of our salvation
“Athanasius was the principal champion of Christian orthodoxy against Arius/arianism, who/that denied that Jesus, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, was fully divine, “of one being with the Father.’”

Here’s part of The Athanasian Creed that my friend George Higgins loved:

Now this is the true faith:
    That we believe and confess
    that our Lord Jesus Christ, God's Son,
    is both God and human, equally.
     He is God from the essence of the Father,
    begotten before time;
    and he is human from the essence of his mother,
    born in time;
    completely God, completely human,
    with a rational soul and human flesh;
    equal to the Father as regards divinity,
    less than the Father as regards humanity.
    Although he is God and human,
    yet Christ is not two, but one.
    He is one, however,
    not by his divinity being turned into flesh,
    but by God's taking humanity to himself.
    He is one,
    certainly not by the blending of his essence,
    but by the unity of his person.
    For just as one human is both rational soul and flesh,

Great stuff! But I’m glad we stick to the Nicene Creed on Sundays! I love this guy: there are few (no?) new heresies,.. just recycled ones….

Holy and Blessed Three,
Glorious  Trinity, spirit, love, might,
boundless as ocean’s tide
rolling in fullest pride,
through the world far and wide,
let there be light!
Hymn 371 v4

                 Pray especially today
              for Egyptian Christians
        and for love of the Holy Trinity.
