Evening of Tuesday in Holy Week

      by the passion 

            of your 

       blessed Son 

       you made an 

      instrument of 

            shameful 

               death 

          to be for us 

the means of life... 

          

         Collect for the Tuesday in Holy Week 

Remind us, Lord, as we walk this week with you, that the cross is not A means but The means... There is so much struggle, loss and injustice, so much weariness and pain that we are tempted to think that there is another way, one that sidesteps this bit. But there is not, there is only this long, dusty Way and in embracing it, it becomes , unaccountably, the Way of life and peace.
