Easter antiphon on Psalm 26
Lord,
I love the house in which you dwell and
the place where your glory abides.
because it combines the old and the new so well for me
- as you enter, sturdy arches marching up toward the
altar, providing shadowy places of intimacy and an-
onymity, embracing our history and tradition, light
coming in muted through old stained glass. And, as
you turn to leave, it opens up and out with a whole
wall of modern glass portraying contemporary people
in the bottom panels, open to the world as we "go
out to do the work you have given us to do, to love
and serve as faithful witnesses... " a single mission
refracted through every culture, through thousands
of years and tens of thousands of individual people.
Behold Be strengthen Be changed.
