Today the Episcopal Church commemorates Samson Occum, 1723 - 1792. Witness to the Faith, teacher and preacher among the Mohegan people., “the first drained minister in New England.” Sadly and ironically, his life story reflects the sad treatment of the Native American peoples themselves.
