Saints Simon and Jude, Apostles

                                                                   Psalm 66:3

All
the earth bows down before you, sings
to you, sings out your Name.

Nothing is known about these two followers of Jesus except their names. According to legend they were both martyred on the same day in Persia. It’s ironic, given the dearth of any information at all, that St Jude has become known as the patron of hopeless causes.

Prayers are suggested for the obscure, the forgotten and the unknown who work for the kingdom of God. For holiness of life. And for faithfulness to our Baptismal promise to “continue in the apostle’s teach-ing, in the breaking of bread and in the prayers.” (BCP Pg 305)
