St Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) Founder of the Order of Discalced Carmelites; mystic, author and guide.To Roman Catholics she is known as a Doctor the Church since 1970. In the Lutheran New Book.... she is called a Renewer of the Church and is described, "a most attractive person, witty, frank and affectionate."*

    Psalm 5:13
all who
take
refuge
in you
will be
glad;
they will
sing out
their joy
for ever.

Let nothing disturb thee,
Nothing affright thee
All things are passing;
God never changeth;
Patient endurance
Attaineth to all things;
Who God possesseth
In nothing is wanting;
Alone God sufficeth.

Lines Written in St Therea’s Breviary

 *A favorite story of mine, because it makes me laugh and gives me hope, is that one day as Teresa was traveling to one of the 17 convents she founded, her carriage ended up in a ditch. She got out of the overturned carriage. shook her fist heavenward and said  “If this is how you treat your friends, no wonder you have so few!”   It's probably not literally true, but as the old Mason Williams song said "Who needs truth if its dull?"
