St James of Jerusalem, brother of Our Lord, martyred around 62. St James had a special ministry to the Jews and is traditionally regarded as the first Bishop of Jerusalem.

"Grant, O Lord, that following the example 
of James the just,…your Church may give itself continually to prayer 

& the reconciliation of those who are at var-
iance and enmity "

Pray for peace 
in Jerusalem and in the hOly Land 
and for the church throughout 
the holy land. 

 I was just going back to take out an extra space when i was struck by the wording of the collect, "grant that your church may give  itself continually..." not just that it continually do it, but give itself continually.  I like that. Sometimes when i pay attention to the words themselves they lEAd me somewhere wonderful...
