Luke 8:18
No
one
after
lighting
a lamp
hides it
under a clay jar
or puts is under a bed.
Instead, they put it on a stand,
so that those who come in can see the light.
On
this
day
we
remember William Dwight Porter Bliss, Priest 1856- 1926 and Richard Theodor Ely, Eco-
nomist, 1854 -1943, whose "dedication to the commonweal through economic justice lead them to be bold reformers of the
world and the church," (Collect) enfleshed reminders that, for the Christian, capitalism is not an end but a means to the creation of a more just and fair
world for all God's children.
